...sang to me
...and suddenly he turned away, leaving me wondering...
All kidding aside, this fellow is 17 years old (a bit too young for me) and weighs in at 2100 pounds, his mating weight. He can drop to 1500 pounds when not mating. We were told that the additional weight makes him more attractive to the ladies. Guess that's why he caught my eye!!
While he was raised in captivity, the Sea Life Center is studying his behaviors and responses to variances in habitat along with other things to learn what influences may be impacting the current sea lion population. So sadly he can never be released into the sea, but his life is being used for education and science.
Men. They're such teases. Such a magnificent animal.
