Talkeetna...Here We Come

Monday evening ended nicely with our first Alaskan King Crab dinner of the trip (I expect there to be more!).  All I can say is...there is a reason it's called "King".

We went to bed early in anticipation of our early morning.  We're still getting used to the fact that it never really gets completely dark.  It is like dusk or twilight, even after the sun goes down.  Thank goodness for room darkening curtains!

Tuesday's train ride to Talkeetna was made interesting, not just for the scenery, but also because our hostess and guide for the trip was a hoot.  Helen, who hails from Idaho, comes to Alaska May through October to work for Princess Cruises.  She's worked for them for 14 seasons, ever since she was widowed at age 60.  She has certainly mastered her craft of narration, weaving in stories of local lore and history.

A few choice pics follow...
